The word 'Sciabiche' comes from the arabic 'sciabbach' which means fishing net. But for the citizens of Brindisi Sciabiche was the name of the area that in the 1800s had as borders Montenegro street to the east, Saint Theresa and Saint Paul to the south, Sdrigoli to the west, and that backed on to the sea for about 400 or 500 meters on the north-west shore of the Brindisi internal harbor 'Seno di Ponente'.

how to get there

Le Sciabiche is located  down on the sea-side, at the starting point of the Brindisi boulevard. It is  best accessible on foot during a city walk.  However there is also a big parking available.
