The beaches South and North of the old watchtower Torre Guaceto are among the most beautiful in Puglia, located in the area of upper Salento, between Brindisi City and Ostuni. They are part of the well-protected Torre Guaceto nature reserve, requiring respect when visiting them. The nature reserve is surrounded by Mediterranean scrub and the wetlands from which the tower Torre Guaceto gets its name: it comes from the Arabic gaw-sit meaning 'place of fresh water' because of the water springs along the coast.
Lovely water
At low tide on a day of calm wind the water is beautiful blue in many shades and crystal clear, great for swimming and snorkling. Offshore, dolphins and minke whales can occasionally be spotted.
You will find clay or rocky cliffs with small inlets alternate with stretches of low, sandy beaches with dunes up to 10 metres high. On the southern part some islets can be spotted offshore. In addition to the many free public stretches of beach, there are also a couple of great beach clubs, a must to enjoy and relax in, and maybe you’ll also be lucky to meet up a beautiful giant sea turtle.
lido torre guaceto - punta penna grossa
As this is a Natural Reserve, the beach on the northern part of Torre Guaceto is only accessible after parking your car (paid) and catching the motor train shuttle (paid). The shuttle only is available in summer season. If there's no shuttle, the walk takes about 30 min. A better option is to visit these beaches by byclicle.
At the beachclub you can rent an umbrella and sunbeds and enjoy some drinks and local biological food. Please note that it can be very full in July and August.

This beach club is located just on the border of the beaches of Apani and Torre Guaceto, at the very south side. We have placed this club at this page because from here you can easily walk towards Torre Guaceto on the beach. Guna Beach wants to be one of the most luxurious beach clubs along this coast.
